Helping Anxiety with Hypnotherapy
One of the most common problems that I am asked to help with is Anxiety. Hypnotherapy can be a very effective way to relieve the angst of being constantly anxious and worrying unnecessarily.
Does Hypnotherapy really help with Anxiety?
As with all things in life there are some people that hypnosis does not seem to work for immediately, most clients see an amazing change after just the first session of hypnotherapy for anxiety and progress well with further treatments. And I am in my experience, of the opinion, that even what seems to have been a less than successful session, (and that can be just one session), can if checked up on some time later appear to have had a beneficial effect.
In most case though clients do seem to be better able to cope with day to day worries and anxieties from the outset.
Why can’t I just stop being Anxious?
The subconscious minds prime objective is to look after you, and it does that automatically, before you are even consciously aware of any perceived threats, so that anxiety of yours can happen even if consciously you are not even aware of a possible problem. And of course the more you respond in this way the more your anxiety becomes ingrained. This is why it is almost impossible for you to stop worrying and being anxious.
The cause of the anxiety issues can date back to childhood and are just the subconscious minds way of protecting you in the here and now, using the methods that it has always used, sadly these same methods of self protection can spread to other areas of your life, increasing the anxiety that you suffer.
The same pattern can also apply to fears and phobias too.
Hypnosis is a very effective way of clearing up issues from the past, which can be the cause of the anxiety.
How does Hypnotherapy for Anxiety resolve this?
It can be enormously effective to regress back to the original cause of the anxiety, normally the cause is to your adult mind a surprisingly simple and unassuming event, however, your unconscious mind does not realise this and reacts to present day threats as if you were still a child.
Once your hypnotherapist has helped your subconscious mind to accept that it is not acting in your best interests, things begin to change for the better. There may be more than one event that needs to be dealt with to release the effect of past from your present day life.

Yes there is, but clearing out the past is for many the best place to start. How many sessions of hypnotherapy for Anxiety will I need?
Every client is different and what works for one may not work for all, that’s why your sessions need to be tailored specifically to you and exactly what you need. I usually recommend at least four sessions to start with, and in many cases that is all that is needed, some clients though benefit from regular top up sessions every few months.
