What can Hypnosis help with?
That is a very good question. Stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, weight loss, stop smoking, self esteem and confidence, are just some of the areas hypnotists work in, So where else can hypnotherapy help? The answer depends on your viewpoint. And there are very many different opinions.
Medicine and Hypnosis
The medical profession has in the past always seemed to be skeptical about hypnosis, hypnosis is something that is hard to prove that changes are made scientifically. Despite brain scans showing changes in the brain do happen under hypnosis many medical professionals still refuse to publicly admit that hypnosis can help in changing peoples lives for the better.
Attitudes are changing though, albeit slowly and mostly under the radar. There are increasing numbers of doctors undergoing hypnotherapy training, using some hypnosis in their medical practices to help their patients. The doctors I have spoken to tend to use hypnosis for relaxation and to help relieve stress and anxiety.
Hypnosis for stress, anxiety and what else?
As hypnotherapists we cannot claim to cure people, we are not medically trained doctors ( apart from the ones that are of course ). We are guides to help clients find their own answers, their own solutions.
No one can possibly know what is going on inside your head, or have access to your thoughts, nor I suspect would they want to!
Hypnotherapists tend to help with all manner of issues, and are very good at what they do, then there are the hypnotherapists who specialise in their own particular niche, these are the therapists that get good results with a particular issue and have honed their methods to help with just that issue.
Recently great progress has been made in using hypnosis to assist cancer sufferers beat their disease. And disease is an interesting word, it’s a dis-ease if broken down. Many therapists believe that some form of dis-ease (or trauma, life changing event etc) in ones life can have a detrimental effect on their well-being, in some cases manifesting as a physical disease of some sort. And by resolving that problem at a subconscious level can help in the bodies recovery.
This opens the way for not only mental issues to be helped but also many physical issues too. It is well known that hypnosis can help with skin problems, high blood pressure, excessive, sweating, blushing, weight gain or weight loss, addictions to drugs and tobacco to mention just a few.
Can Hypnosis help me?
Another question that really needs a different viewpoint. If you are of the mindset that hypnosis could work for you then the answer is probably yes. A quick search of Google for what you need help with will no doubt reveal just what help is available to you, and if you add hypnosis to the search you will probably find a hypnotherapist that specialises in that particular field.
One of the most common phrases I hear is ” I’ve come to you because your my last hope, I’ve tried everything else” and very often hypnotherapy is the last thing they try – because they get the help they need and don’t need to look elsewhere!
